- The firmware is capable of being changes, the question is whether
- or not the DSP, controller, and other parts have the horsepower to run any
- new protocols, and since no one is anywhere close to finishing any newq
- protocols, we won't know.

- Those rumors were just that, rumors. I really don't expect that
- we'll see any new protocols come out for AT LEAST a year an a half to two
- years. To go any higher, they'd need a whole new protocol, which would
- have to be even mroe complicated then v.34, and v.34 took a good 4 years
- or more to complete (although originally it was called v.FAST and only ran
- at 19.2). FWIW, the upgrade from 28.8 v.34 to 33.6 v.34 was quite a minor
- one, which is why AT&T had 33.6 v.34s modems out before most companies had
- their 28.8 v.34s availible.
